Term 3 reopens 14 July — what every family should know

20 June 2026

School reopens for Term 3 on Monday 14 July. Stationery lists, the revised timetable, the fee-relief window and a fuller sports programme are all explained here.

After a well-earned winter break, the gates of Stars Secondary School swing open again for Term 3 on Monday, 14 July 2026, at 07:30 sharp. It promises to be the busiest and most important term of the year — the term in which our Grade 12s sit their trial examinations, our sports teams chase district honours, and the whole school leans into the final stretch of 2026.

Learners are expected in full winter uniform from day one: grey trousers or skirts, the maroon school jersey, a white shirt and a tie, with black school shoes polished and ready. Educators will conduct a uniform and stationery check during the first week, gently and supportively — the aim is readiness, never embarrassment.

“Term 3 is where the year is won or lost,” says Principal P. Mokoena. “We ask every parent to walk this term with us. Talk to your child about their goals, check their books, and never hesitate to phone the school. We would far rather hear from you in week one than in week ten.”

Updated stationery lists for every grade are available from the front office and on each learner’s portal under Study Material. Grade 12 learners will receive an additional past-paper revision pack, compiled by our subject heads from ten years of National Senior Certificate papers. The revised timetable also introduces two supervised afternoon study sessions each week for Grades 11 and 12, running until 16:30, with educators on hand for one-on-one help.

We understand that the middle of the year can stretch family budgets thin. Any family experiencing genuine financial hardship may apply, in complete confidence, for the Term 3 fee-relief window, which closes on 25 July. Applications are handled through our Disputes & Appeals process, and we restate our firm promise: no learner at this school is ever turned away from class for non-payment while a relief application is under review. A child’s right to learn is not for sale.

On the lighter side, Term 3 brings our packed sports and culture calendar to life — inter-house athletics, the winter soccer and netball leagues, the choir’s preparation for the district eisteddfod, and the much-loved Spring Athletics Day in September. There is a place for every child to shine, on the field, on the stage or in the classroom.

We cannot wait to welcome our learners back. Rested, ready and in good spirits — let us make Term 3 our finest yet.
