Sports Development

Free coaching in soccer, netball and athletics, open to neighbouring schools.

8 teams

On any given afternoon, our fields and courts come alive. Soccer balls thud against the practice nets, the netball squad runs its drills, and a cluster of young athletes pounds out laps under the watchful eye of a coach who once ran for the province. Our sports development programme is built on a belief as old as sport itself: that discipline, teamwork and resilience learned on the field carry straight into the classroom and into life.

We field eight teams across soccer, netball and athletics, and — unusually — we throw our gates open to neighbouring schools, hosting free friendly leagues so that children who might never afford a sports club still get to compete. No talent in this community should go unseen for want of a pair of boots.

And it pays off. Last season, two of our learners were selected for district athletics trials, and one earned a partial sports bursary to a top high school’s academy programme. But our proudest stories are quieter: the shy Grade 8 boy who found his voice as a goalkeeper, the girl whose attendance turned around the term she made the netball first team because, in her words, “now there are people counting on me.”

Sport here is never just about winning. It is about belonging. It is about a child discovering that their body is strong, their effort matters, and their team has their back — lessons that outlast any final score.
